We have an exciting opportunity for a new Buying Administrator. Situated in our head office in Newmarket, you will become an integral part of the buying team.

The Libra Company is proud to be celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year. As an established name in Home and Interiors, the company is at an exciting and pivotal time. We are looking for a Buying Administrator to support the Buying and Merchandising Teams in Head Office.

Purpose of role:                       

As an integral part of the Buying and Merchandising team, the Buying Administrator’s primary responsibility is to support the Buying team with accurate and effective, creation and management of new product. The role will also involve support in to Merchandising on day-to-day administrative tasks relating to the management of product and purchase orders.

The candidate will make a significant contribution to the sales and profitability of Libra through accurate and consistent support on the collation, input and management of product information and samples. Allowing the team to effectively manage the development, selection and launch of new product. The successful execution of delivering product for launch is a key to the success of the business ensuring that Libra, as a brand, remains at the forefront of product development and trend.

The Buying Administrator will be expected to develop an on-going and continual awareness of product performance both in Libra and in competitors. This knowledge and understanding will be shared within B&M and the wider business, as necessary, to ensure that Libra has the best range, at the right time, at the right price to enable the Libra Brand to realise its opportunities to drive sales and to maximise profit.

Main areas of responsibility and principal duties:

  • To request and manage samples (NPD & Showroom) into the business.
  • To support the Buying team throughout the product selection process, to ensure the best product selection is made in context the of “Company”, “Brand”, “Trend” and “Price Position”, ensuring the buy is placed in line with the Buying and Merchandising critical path
  • To progressively be aware of: Options; Category Mix; Initial Buy Quantities and Price Architecture
  • Once selected, to communicate buy decisions to suppliers: raising PO’s; managing all aspects of product development to manufacture, either directly or in conjunction with the Assistant Buyer.
  • To be responsible for setting up products on Caliq, including all product information and pricing details.
  • To support other members of the Buying and Merchandising team and other part of the Company on any product related information, as required.

Management and Supervision

  • To support and assist other members of the Libra team, answering colleagues’ queries, supporting them in learning, and adhering to Buying and Merchandising processes and procedures as necessary, or as directed by the Head of Buying and Merchandising

Financial Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for managing sampling within the department’s allocated budget for samples and courier costs). This includes responsibility for managing the Courier Account on behalf of B&M
  • To be aware of Bought Margin and Spend position (vs Plan)
  • To constantly challenge established ways of working to improve efficiency and to reduce overhead costs and inefficiencies
