International Day of Happiness

This may be one of the most ironic days of the year but today is International Day of Happiness.

In this very unknown situation, it’s hard to say let’s celebrate International Day of Happiness today but we would like to try and bring some positivity your way with some home design ideas to keep you busy.

Yesterday was also the first day of Spring so there isn’t a better time to think about updating your home interior. You might not be able to begin your refresh in the usual way but there are lots of ways you can get started online. Whether you’re self-isolating, or still going to work these little ideas might bring you some happiness and distraction to help you get through at the current time.

Create a mood board

Why not spend some time getting creative? Creating a mood board is very easy and you can keep adding to it little and often. Cut and stick from your favourite home interior magazines or print from online retailers to bring your vision together. This will be great for your mindset to forget about the negativity online at the moment. This is also a great way to get the kids involved and keep them busy if you’re all home together now.

Pinterest is a great place to start with ideas, if you didn’t know we are on Pinterest @thelibracompany you can browse our latest boards that we created featuring our stunning collections.

Here are some of our mood boards that our buying and merchandising team created for our collections, hopefully, these will bring you some inspiration.

Don’t forget to share your mood boards with us, tag us @thelibracompany on Instagram we will add them to our highlights and hopefully we can inspire lots of people with their spring refresh.

Start painting

This is a great one that we have seen a few people start already. In two weeks of self-isolation you can make a big transformation within your house, with just a new lick of paint! Work from your mood board or be bold and experiment with a new brighter colour for Spring.

Our mood can be really effected by colour, so this feels like a perfect time to let a new colour help you keep a positive fresh outlook day to day. Don’t forget Pantone’s colour of the year for 2020 is Classic Blue and Dulux’s top pick for spring is Tranquil Dawn.

Pick up some colour swatches to get you started and see where the paintbrush takes you.

Spring Clean

As we change into a new season, now is a good time to do a deep clean. Not only will it keep you busy for days but can give you a sense of achievement. In light of everything going on at the moment a deep spring clean doesn’t seem such a bad idea.

It’s also a really good idea to clean and put away or change decorative accessories to suit the season as these little touches can transform a room. Also, you can go one step further and move your furniture around. In stressful situations, we can sometimes feel like we can’t control anything in the outside world. However, in your home, you are in charge and can have your things where you want them and where they feel right.
