Interior Trends to Look Out for in 2020

If you’re looking to update your home this year, the latest interiors trends are a great source of inspiration, especially when you’re just starting to do some research.

Whether you’re planning a large-scale project or simply a few small updates, we’ve rounded up four key trends that are worth taking a look at for the year ahead:

  • Into the Blue
  • Modern Country
  • New Neutrals
  • Natural Materials and Organic Forms

Into the Blue

Blue is always a popular shade for the home thanks to its psychological associations with calmness and tranquillity, but we’re expecting to see even more of it this year.

Pantone’s 2020 Colour of the Year has been announced as Classic Blue; a timeless and elegant calming blue hue that will no doubt prove popular across both interiors and fashion.

‘Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.’  – Pantone

We are really excited about Pantone’s choice of Classic Blue, this complements one of our latest ranges, Urbanite. This modern range features demanding statement pieces full of rich moody tones, striking linear silhouettes and softer curves, which bring deserved attention to each piece.

Our Blue Velvet Sofa and Occasional Chair (pictured above), are great choices to start your 2020 refresh. These classic blue pieces pair beautifully with marble coffee tables and brushed brass finishes or sculpture to bring a touch of warmth to the new stylish living area.

Another shade of blue that’s set to be big this year, according to the trend forecaster WGSN, is Neo Mint. A mix of traditional mint and soft turquoise, WGSN describes the colour as “an oxygenating, fresh tone that aligns science and technology with nature” and we love the look of it!

Some of our top picks in these 2020 colours are the Oasis Blue Abstract Lamp and the Blue Coral Resin Sculpture (both above) to add little hints of the classic blue throughout the home.

Our Montrose Velvet Tassel Occasional Chair is a great asset to brighten up any corner or hallway, partnered with our Celadon Green Crackle Ceramic Planter with Faux White Orchid and stylish candles create a refreshing and welcoming space.

Modern Country

A big farmhouse in the countryside brings with it something very unique, high beams, open fireplaces and lots of character all in such a rural setting. These key features are on a lot of people’s tick lists when looking for a property, but there is nothing stopping you adopting this trend in a modern townhouse.

Our Botanical Range is perfect for bridging the gap between indoor and outdoor living. Showcasing characterful woods, industrial metalwork, faux foliage and tactile surfaces. It is an ideal trend for homeowners who wish for the country lifestyle, and want to adopt the classic look with a contemporary twist for their modern home.

We would highly recommend pieces such as our Kempsey Fir Wood and Iron Coffee Table or Console table (pictured above). Combining the rich wood and the contrasting iron metal surrounds, they’re perfect for displaying an arrangement of ceramics or sculptures. This rich wood combined with our Albury Tan Leather and Wood Occasional Chair and Inca Aari Cushion creates a warm homely feeling.

New Neutrals

Neutral shades are no longer limited to cream, grey and beige but can include all colours of the rainbow as long as they are in the right tone. Light, chalky shades work particularly well thanks to an inherent softness that helps to create calm and laid-back spaces. We love how well dusky pink and terracotta work for this type of look, especially when combined with natural wood that adds textural elements to a room.

Products like our Henley Rose Pink Occasional Chair paired with some soft pink candles and natural flowers are enough to brighten up a neutral room. Or our Tan Dining Chair to add a dash of colour to a neutral kitchen surrounded by natural wood (All pictured below).

Dulux’s colour of the year has been announced as Tranquil Dawn (pictured below) – a calming pastel shade of green inspired by the morning sky, this is also a great green-hued neutral.

Natural Materials and Organic Forms

Our love affair with natural materials and finishes looks set to continue throughout 2020 with designs taking further inspiration from organic forms, such as coral and fungi. Natural patinas are also being celebrated and used to great effect to create stunning finishes that are reminiscent of lichens and moss; our latest collection of ceramic vases and planters reference this trend beautifully.

Style with rustic wood finishes, natural greenery or rattan furniture for an eye-catching look that references the natural world wholeheartedly.

Our Padstow House collection, which draws its inspiration from the beautiful British shoreline has some stunning ceramic pieces that pair perfectly with resin sculptures and detailed vases from the Botanical range.
